Who am I?

Well, my name is George Stoker, youngest of 2 sons born to Jack North & Veronica (Vera) Stoker in 1953. I am proud to be born and bred in Bowburn, County Durham in the North East of England.
I worked for Husqvarna AB, based from an office in the town of Huskvarna, in the Region of Småland in Sweden. My role as Head of Product Support within After Sales and Service entailed a lot of  travelling, both inside and outside of Europe.
Husqvarna are the worlds largest manufacturer of Forest and Garden machinery.
Regretfully, I left Husqvarna in 2008 to start a life of semi-retirement, however, sitting about is not my forte!.

the Stoker Family Crest

Web search

Browsing the Internet the other day I tried a search for 'Stoker Family' and came upon this site offering to sell me my Family Crest and a History of the name and origins of the Stoker name!

The family crest is alongside and below is the information from the site:

The name Stoker was brought to England by the Normans when they conquered the island in 1066. It is a name for a person whose profession was felling trees or removing tree stumps. The name was originally derived from the Old English word stocc, meaning tree stump. Spelling variations include: Stocker, Stoker, Stockere, Stokoe and others. First found in Somerset where they were conjecturally descended from Walter de Douai, a Norman noble who was a Doomsday tenant of Chilcompton, a village which two mills, 220 sheep, and 70 goats. Some of the first settlers of this name or some of its variants were: William Stocker who settled in Virginia in 1623; William Stocker settled in Bermuda in 1635; Alexander Stocker settled in Carolina 1751; Anna, Barbara, Emanuel, George, Godfrey, John, George, Margerit, Maria, Michael, Peter Stocker all settled in Pennsylvania between 1731 and 1865.
